Cold Water Tanks

Cold Water Tank Services

Our skilled engineers repair, remove, replace and install Cold Water Storage Tanks across a range of commercial and industrial applications.

By using the highest-grade materials and UV stabilisation technology, we are able to ensure durability and can tailor our service to meet your individual requirements. As experts within the industry, we work with capacities ranging from 50 to 60,000 litres in size. We are proud to design an extensive range of quality plastic & GRP cold water storage tanks for the industrial, commercial and domestic sectors.

All of our water tanks are manufactured in the UK and are built to the highest standard. Whether it is a mass-produced tank or a bespoke engineered product for a demanding application, we can develop a solution to meet your specific needs.

You can find our cold-water storage tanks in a wide range of applications, from small residential properties through to large, commercial, industrial and public sector properties

All of our cold-water tanks are made from WRAS approved plastic or GRP. It is a legal requirement that all tanks are WRAS approved before the installation process begins. We are able to install: Sectional, one piece, internally flanged and hot press sectional cold-water storage tanks in a range of commercial, industrial and domestic properties.

As the UK’s trusted water hygiene partner, our aim is to help reduce the risk of Legionella growth within your water supply. The risk and potential dangers associated with Legionella are very high, and potentially fatal. As a result, it’s essential you do everything you can to prevent its growth. That’s where we can help.

Legionella in Cold Water Storage Tanks

Legionella bacteria grows and multiplies in temperatures between 20-45°C, controlling that temperature and the availability of nutrients helps to inhibit growth. Part of the reason Legionella is so dangerous is that it can be contracted by inhaling airborne water droplets, which can then develop into pneumonia. Common gravity fed systems involve water entering the building through a rising main into a cold-water storage tank. The cold water then circulates into the appropriate outlets.

Unfortunately, as water is being stored the risk of Legionella can be quite high if not maintained correctly. It is therefore important that your company complies with regulations set out by HSE to avoid tragic accidents and heavy financial penalties.

Metal tanks are very susceptible to rust and corrosion, for this reason all of our industrial colds water storage tanks are built with plastic or GRP to reduce the risk of Legionella bacterial growth. Once the tanks are installed they must be maintained on a regular basis to ensure there are no potential issues or potential for bacterial growth.

Hydraclean reduces the risk of Legionella by minimising the nutrients available to the bacteria. Our expert team are able to improve the poor design of a storage tanks cross flow of water by:

  • Fitting float valves
  • Moving the inlet opposite the outlet
  • Fitting a sparge pipe to the outlet inside the tank

In some substandard conditioned water tanks, we are able to offer the following repairs:

  • Insect screens to overflow to prevent ingress to the tank
  • Insulation to reduce the effects of heat gain
  • Lid vents to ensure that air circulates above the water storage to reduce organic growth
  • Float valves to improve the turnover of water in tanks that may be oversized

Where tanks are in such poor condition and upgrades are not possible or too costly a replacement tank is cheaper. Hydraclean will always find the best replacements for location, consumption and access.
